What if you recently found early 8mm films made by a childhold friend who later worked in Hollywood with giants like Peter Jackson and George Lucas?

David Hardberger was a friend of Barry’s since elementary school and during Barry’s recent move he discovered a few films made with Barry’s father’s camera.  They are probably all based on the great literature depicted in “Classics Illustrated” comic books.

David decided to leave his hometown during high school by “borrowing” a car and driving across the country.  He did make it to New Mexico.  Hear David’s story of fulfilling his childhood dream of working in the movie business, his views on CGI, the future of movie theaters, and the funding of indie films.  He chats as well about directing several short films for the film festival circuit. Angie Coiro has been a brilliant progressive electronic journalist for decades, starting at San Francisco’s KQED.  Later she was the host of Mother Jones Radio on Air America and now hosts the syndicated “In Deep” which covers only one topic each week.

Angie and Barry take a hard look at contemporary TV and radio journalism.  Is “news” on cable really “news” or should it just be called “speculation”?   Why doesn’t radio and cable use more informed academics and fewer loosely aware pundits to avoid embarrassing errors like NPR’s recent blunder about abortion ads?  And, why should talk-show hosts sometimes just say “no” to invitations to pontificate on other talk shows?
