Barry first heard the breathtking voice of Jan Marra on NPR 30 years ago. Jan turned that record "These Crazy Years" into years of touring but then made other professional decisions and didn't make another record until 2002's
At this point in her career, Jan is primarily singing with the elderly. In one on one sessions she often picks up cues to determine the tunes they might want to hear-from swing to rock.
During the conversation she and Barry reflect on "Jesus and cleavage" in contemporary country music, our deeply broken healthcare system and chicken buffets at churches in New Jersey.
Leah Bonnema is a NYC based comedian who has performed at comedy clubs and festivals around the world. The Huffington Post named her one of its favorite female comics and Barry says "she is in the top tier of my favorite comedians, female or male".
They explore Leah's favorite films (and find agreement about one wildly criticized film they both love), weird eye movements during the Bill Barr press conference about the Mueller report, and Leah's extraordinary ability to merge the personal with the political. Barry also tries to give her advice about how to deal with going (or not going) to "Avengers: Endgame" without her boyfriend.
