Nellie Clay is a gifted songwriter who has lived in Texas, Nashville, and Alaska and whose music beautifully reflects that geographical rambling as well as her Oklahoma roots. She is out with a brand new CD "We Got Songs To Sing" that joins her two previous productions. Listen to Nellie's Music HERE
Nellie and Barry discuss her early career restoring Russian paintings, living nearly off the grid in America's northernmost state, hosting some of Woody Guthrie's family in her living room, and the life of a traveling minstel. They also explore several of her latest songs including the powerful and harrowing true story of her relative "Malvina's Song" and her cover of Woody's rarely performed gem "Rangers Command".
Zack Hunt is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. When he was growing up, he was convinced that Jesus would be returning by the next weekend and that if he sinned by listening to secular music or thinking too much about women, he risked not being taken up to Heaven in the Rapture. His thoughts have changed since then and his journey is chronicled in the new book "Unraptured: How End Times Theology Gets It Wrong."
Zack and Barry engage in a little Bible exploration (nothing too heavy) in this segment. Then, they explore how the "Left Behind" books and films have generated a huge business by forecasting the end of human history and why certain groups of people believe the end of the world is coming soon, even after their chosen "prophets" are repeatedly wrong about it and the world keeps moving along.
