Students at institutions of higher learning are in debt to the tune of 1.6 trillion dollars. Unfortunately, some of the "for profit" colleges are run by scammers and when their facilities go belly up, students end up with no degree, no refunds, and virtually no help from the Trump administration. Enter the National Student Legal Defense Network, whose President Aaron Ament-former Special Counsel for higher education in the Obama years-- joins Barry to explain what is being done through litigation and advocacy to rectify this ever worsening problem.
Aaron and the staff take on Betsy DeVos and others dragging their feet on bringing justice to students lured into bad schools, cheated out of money, and unprotected by the Department of Education.
David G. Smith spent quality time in Nashville writing songs for other people but has now returned to his family home of Iowa to write tunes he really cares about. He and Barry explore how being a medical investigator helped him craft his music (4 CDs with one coming out soon), their mutual friend and Grammy nominee Mary Gauthier, and David's spectacular reception at a 5000 person Eagle Scout gathering.
As usual they play some of David's music, including the powerful "Jesus Is In Prison" and "Shine" from the unreleased album.
